The most expensive driver coupled with every training tool available will not help without the right mental approach to the game.

Tons of long books have been written about this but lets condense it down to the most important concepts to get you off to a flying start.

Positive Thinking
The best golfers have a positive frame of mind. They can forget the bad shot that happened on the last hole or 30 seconds ago. They generally don't beat themselves up to much... or to long anyway!

Be Smart
Don't try to hit the green 280 yards away out of the rough over water!   All good golfers :
  • Know their limitations
  • Play the high percentage shot
  • Avoid big numbers by playing to their strength
Picture your shot
During your preshot routine picture the shot you want to hit. See it in your mind and make 1/2 speed swings that you know can make the shot go high, low, curve left or right (or just will be pointed in the right direction!) and only think about the swing that will accomplish your goal.

Clear your mind
This is where muscle memory and your preshot routine are really important. Once you are over the ball clear your mind and make the swing. If you are thinking about keeping a straight lead arm, closing the club face, tightening up your rotation, or anything else then you are not concentrating on the ball.

what do you suggest for slow players that think too much

slow play doesnt always mean thinking too much although it can. if you are spending too much time over the ball that can be corrected by practicing a routine.

make your decision behind the ball. rehearse the swing behind the ball. get your grip behind the ball.

once over the ball all that is left to do is alignment and produce a confident stroke.
